Phillaur, Oct 16: A police investigation into graffiti at Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh’s ancestral village led to the arrest of three Moga residents after spray-painted slogans appeared on a neighbor’s residence.
Phillaur DSP Bharat Masih confirmed that suspects Lovepreet Singh, Pritpal Singh, and Shagandeep Singh were arrested on October 15 and subsequently placed under two-day police remand by a Judicial Magistrate. The arrests stem from an October 7 incident where masked individuals painted separatist slogans and the performer’s name onto a local boundary wall ahead of the singer’s ‘Aura India Tour’.
The owner of the damaged house, a daily-wage laborer named Mukhtiar, discovered the slogans after confronting masked suspects who fled the scene, realizing later that the perpetrators had apparently mistaken his house for Dosanjh’s property.
“I am a daily-wage worker. They damaged my wall and left. Diljit’s house is further down the road,” Mukhtiar explained while detailing the financial burden of repairing his home.
Investigating officers continue to interrogate the three remanded individuals to uncover the broader context and motive behind the vandalism while formal charges remain subject to court outcomes.
