CHANDIGARH/PATIALA, JUNE 8 — Ongoing health complications and mounting medical debts for MasterChef India Season 6 contestant Harmanpreet Kaur have ended following a successful state-funded surgery at Rajindra Hospital. Enrolled in Punjab’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, the Patiala-based caterer received entirely cashless treatment for severe perimenopausal conditions that had threatened both her life and her business ventures.
The administrative framework of the health scheme allowed Kaur to receive immediate surgical attention without upfront costs, addressing a chronic bleeding condition that persisted despite intensive treatments over several years.
“Beneficiaries like me are an example how affordable healthcare can transform the lives of common man, mainly those who face prolonged illnesses,” Kaur maintained regarding her experience with the state program.
Kaur’s complex medical file includes a history of neurological issues stemming from a 2011 brain hemorrhage, which required her husband to resign from his private sector job to oversee her daily welfare. The compounding expenses from diabetes, hypothyroidism, and psoriasis had restricted her ability to seek advanced surgical solutions elsewhere.
Hospital specialists finalized the treatment path after Kaur failed to respond to temporary hormonal implants fitted in 2020 and 2024.
“She had a large fibroid and had earlier undergone prolonged medical treatment without success,” noted Dr. Preet Kamal Sibia, who led the operations at the Government Medical College facility. “After thorough evaluation, our team performed a Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy.”
Medical bulletins confirmed that the patient responded well to the minimal-access surgery and has since returned home. Hospital staff also managed her secondary conditions during her stay.
Kaur, who previously managed multiple food venues including a local tiffin delivery network and a food van, indicated that the medical clearance allows her to resume her career goals.
“Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna not only removed the financial burden of treatment but also ensured timely access to quality healthcare,” Kaur declared, expressing renewed trust in public medical infrastructure.
