Noida, Oct 9: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath confirmed that the state executive body passed a resolution naming the Jewar international transit facility after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing media representatives after the cabinet gathering, the Chief Minister maintained that the state administration sought to acknowledge the Prime Minister’s instrumental role in delivering the landmark aviation project to Uttar Pradesh. The state government formally endorsed the naming measure during its weekly policy session.
The infrastructural asset reached operational readiness earlier this year, marked by its official inauguration by Prime Minister Modi on March 28. Commercial air services at the site subsequently commenced on June 15 as IndiGo completed its maiden arrival at the new terminal. Government officials declared that the naming reflects the transformative impact of the facility on local commerce, regional mobility, and long-term economic development.
