Over One Hundred Punjab Children Secure Safe Family Environments

State Specialized Adoption Network Achieves Total District Coverage

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, July 16: A state-wide welfare drive has successfully placed one hundred and thirty-four children into permanent, legally secure homes over the past three years. The milestone coincides with Punjab establishing a comprehensive safety net, ensuring every district houses a dedicated Specialized Adoption Agency.

The strategy has significantly improved domestic and international placement tracks. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur declared that the state machinery is focused on providing transparent and lawful pathways for children in need. The minister asserted that the recent metrics stand as a clear reflection of ongoing efforts to embed vulnerable children into nurturing homes.

Out of the eighty-seven children placed from state care, sixty-six found families within India, consisting of forty-eight girls and eighteen boys. Inter-country placements accounted for twenty-one children, while ten children with special needs were also integrated into supportive households. The remaining portion of the state total involved forty-seven children adopted through step-parents and extended family channels.

To sustain this momentum, the State Adoption Resource Agency recently brought together medical experts and district officials in Chandigarh to review health assessment standards and legal frameworks. Department leadership noted that maintaining thorough medical records and updating stakeholders on regional regulations helps resolve procedural bottlenecks, allowing local authorities to verify applications with greater speed and precision.
