Anantnag, July 22: An intensive cordon-and-search operation remains active in Anantnag after terrorists fired upon security forces in the Lal area, resulting in the death of police personnel Ashiq Hussain. The fallen officer was critically injured while engaged in operational duties and later succumbed to his injuries.
In response to the incident, security grids across South Kashmir have been fortified, with special focus directed toward the Qazigund stretch of National Highway 44. Senior police leadership directed round-the-clock surveillance, deployment at strategic intersections, and strict vehicular screening to secure the area.
Senior commanders are directly monitoring the search operation in Anantnag, where tactical units continue to search surrounding sectors. Law enforcement authorities noted that the elevated security posture along NH-44 will remain operational until further notice.
Local administration officials reaffirmed that strict measures remain necessary to neutralize security threats and safeguard local transit.
“Enhanced security grids will remain in place across the region, and citizens are urged to extend full cooperation during routine checking and verification procedures,” declared security officials.
