Chandigarh, August 6: Unreasonable fee escalations by private un-aided educational institutions in Punjab face strict checks following approval of new regulatory legislation by the state Cabinet.
The executive decision introduces targeted amendments to existing fee control statutes, establishing structured oversight to ensure private institutions maintain fair operational charges.
“Government policy remains focused on protecting student welfare while fostering transparent administrative frameworks,” stated official communications following the Cabinet session, asserting that educational and employment standards are being upgraded simultaneously.
The legislative package includes the introduction of the Punjab State Outsourced Personnel Transition to Contractual Engagement Bill, 2026, guaranteeing minimum wage standards for qualifying staff. Additional policy decisions extend service periods for rural veterinary support staff, establish the new Tarsika development block in Amritsar, and streamline tax procedures to assist local trade and industry.
