Patiala, August 7  — American law enforcement authorities have initiated a homicide investigation after recovering the body of 24-year-old Khushkarandeep Singh, a Punjabi youth hailing from Atalan village near Patiala, who was killed in California.

Singh, who migrated to the US five years ago and was employed in the freight transport sector, went missing late last month after his family unexpectedly lost phone connectivity with him. A targeted search effort by California police eventually led to the discovery of his body in a forest region.

Investigating officers noted that the victim was shot while inside his vehicle, though the identity of the attackers and the motive for the crime remain unconfirmed. Local detectives are currently analyzing evidence from the site to identify those responsible.

“The family lost contact with him after July 30, when his mobile phone became unreachable,” relatives affirmed while describing their efforts to track his whereabouts.

Back home, Singh’s father, Balwinder Singh, has formally requested urgent intervention from central government authorities and foreign affairs officials to expedite administrative clearances. Meanwhile, community groups across North America have mobilized financial support to assist with the associated transportation and legal formalities.
