SUNAM/LONGOWAL, AUGUST 12 — A major welfare campaign spanning 129 government institutions commenced in Longowal with the direct distribution of school bags to thousands of local girls. Organized through the Babu Bhagwan Das Arora Foundation, the program aims to reach 19,886 young scholars across the Sunam area to boost classroom participation and build academic confidence.
The opening ceremony at Shaheed S. Bhagwan Singh Government Smart School focused heavily on female empowerment and competitive academic success. Thirteen high-performing candidates who cleared national NEET and JEE exams were formally recognized, with certificates awarded to top rank-holders across various grades.
Speaking at the gathering, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora asserted that young women throughout the region are consistently proving their capabilities across medicine, defence, and civil service streams. He maintained that society flourishes when equal opportunities are systematically provided to every learner regardless of background.
“Irrespective of the stream or trade chosen by a student, I will always stand by every student and remain committed to working for their bright future,” declared Aman Arora. “The government’s objective is to provide every child with opportunities for quality education and thereby lay a strong foundation for their bright future.”
In response to concerns regarding educational costs, the minister declared that official mechanisms are actively maintaining regulatory caps across the private domain. He stated that any institution exceeding the mandatory five percent fee escalation limit will face structured administrative action alongside directives to refund excess collections to parents.
District administrative leadership, including Deputy Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Ravjot Grewal, joined faculty members, parents, and community representatives to support the local initiative.
