Chandigarh, Sept 1: Air travelers between Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh saw direct service restored on Tuesday as IndiGo restarted non-stop operations connecting Kangra’s Gaggal Airport with Chandigarh. Service on the sector had been temporarily halted due to persistent inclemency and poor weather conditions across the mountain flight path.
Aviation representatives stated that the reinstated flight routine will provide crucial regional access every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Official schedules indicate the aircraft departs Dharamsala at 1:10 PM and lands at Chandigarh’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport at 2:15 PM, while the return flight departs Chandigarh at 2:45 PM and completes its journey to Dharamsala at 3:50 PM.
Gaggal Airport management affirmed that technical groundwork is also progressing to establish a new direct route connecting Dharamsala with Jammu. Airport administrators maintained that launching the proposed Jammu route in the coming months will significantly cut travel time between the neighboring northern territories while supporting regional tourism.
Infrastructure specialists declared that long-term expansion plans remain focused on modernizing Gaggal Airport facilities to match international aviation requirements. Industry observers noted that the revived service complements Dharamsala’s active flight connections with major urban hubs, including Delhi and Shimla.
