CHANDIGARH: A three-member ministerial panel has submitted recommendations to increase the dearness allowance for Punjab government employees hired under post-2020 entry guidelines to 60 per cent. Announcing the outcome at Punjab Bhawan, Industries and Commerce Minister Aman Arora affirmed that the move ensures state personnel do not face financial disadvantages relative to central government standards. The decision targets staff recruited under central pay matrices whose compensation parameters had not been altered through judicial orders.
Addressing the historical context of state pay frameworks, Arora declared that previous regulations established distinct compensation tiers across the workforce. While long-serving employees retain higher baseline entry scales specific to Punjab, personnel appointed after mid-2020 were placed on central pay patterns while receiving local allowance rates. The proposed modification seeks to resolve this variance for post-2020 appointees across departments.
The ministerial body emphasized that the administration remains focused on supporting the state workforce through balanced administrative policies. Panel members expressed confidence that the finalized proposal will proceed smoothly through executive channels, reinforcing long-term workforce stability and administrative consistency across all public sectors.
