Chandigarh, Sept 16: Government college faculty across Haryana are set to benefit from a significant administrative adjustment following the state government’s decision to temporarily lift the mandatory rural service prerequisite for Career Advancement Scheme promotions. The policy change establishes a twelve-month framework during which eligible educators can finalize their pending promotion cases.
In a formal communication addressed to all government college principals, the Higher Education Department declared that the mandatory rural service clause stands relaxed for one year from the date of the notice. The measure ensures that promotion procedures proceed without interruption while maintaining administrative efficiency within the higher education sector.
The Haryana Government College Teachers’ Association welcomed the decision, asserting that the step resolves a prolonged concern affecting roughly 1,400 teachers statewide. Representatives stated that the association had previously submitted a formal representation regarding the rural service condition during an interaction with Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda in Karnal.
Educators commended Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, and senior officials of the Higher Education Department for addressing the matter. Association representatives affirmed their intention to maintain productive engagement with the government to address remaining faculty welfare issues through collaborative discussion.
