Ropar, Sept 27: Police personnel carried out a targeted operation at the house of former SGPC leader Amarjit Singh Chawla in Ludhiana on Sunday morning to advance investigation procedures tied to a criminal complaint filed against him last month. Officials involved in the action confirmed that Chawla was unavailable at the premises when the team reached the Model Town Extension site, prompting officers to record statements from immediate family members who were present inside the home.
The law enforcement movement originates from an FIR lodged on August 21 detailing charges of sexual assault, unlawful restraint, and criminal intimidation under the BNS framework. Case records indicate that the complainant has provided detailed accounts of incidents spanning several months, asserting that promises were made prior to the alleged exploitation. The complainant has also documented her formal statement before a judicial magistrate as part of the evidentiary process.
Chawla has publicly rejected all accusations related to the Anandpur Sahib FIR. In a statement released earlier this month, he affirmed his full faith in the legal system, maintained that the allegations were completely baseless, and declared that the facts would ultimately demonstrate his lack of involvement.
