Lucknow, Oct 3: Uttar Pradesh is stepping up public EV charging deployment as part of the nationwide PM E-DRIVE scheme to accelerate clean mobility adoption.

Under Phase Two targets, government agencies have identified 240 initial sites across municipal corporations, state transport depots, industrial parks, and utility land, with 1,260 locations slated for identification. Urban locations include key points in Aligarh, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Jhansi, Firozabad, Kanpur, and Agra, alongside 74 sites reserved for Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus terminals.

State leadership affirmed that district administrators must review land availability at local government offices, bus stands, highway dhabas, and commercial plazas to expedite setup timelines. Officials declared that building a robust fast-charging network across state transport corridors remains central to the region’s long-term sustainability goals.
