Abohar, Oct 4: The Haryana STF has taken into custody absconding suspect Shakti Kumar in connection with the fatal shooting of Abohar-based businessman Sanjay Verma. Intercepted near a flyover along Rajgarh Road in Hisar on Saturday, the suspect was found carrying an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition. Shakti had been on the run since the July 2025 daylight killing, prompting Punjab authorities to place a Rs 5-lakh reward on his capture.
Investigators maintained that the suspect assisted the primary gunmen in fleeing the crime scene after they targeted Verma outside his commercial establishment. The murder probe has seen widespread operations across several states, resulting in the previous arrest of shooters Rajinder Billa and Jaskaran in Rajasthan, alongside the neutralisation of two facilitators during earlier police engagements. Police officials asserted that inter-state coordination remains vital to neutralizing organized criminal links, with Punjab enforcement agencies moving to secure the accused’s custody for comprehensive custodial questioning
