BJP Names Fresh Nominees for Uttar Pradesh Rajya Sabha Seats

Ruling party revamps candidate slate for October 16 biennial polls

New Delhi, Lucknow, Oct 5: The Bharatiya Janata Party has finalized eight nominees for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh, opting for an updated lineup that replaces all outgoing members.

In the list announced on Monday, the party named eight candidates while omitting sitting members, including Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and BL Verma. The selected nominees feature Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh alongside women leaders Priyanka Singh Rawat and Shruti Gangwar. The party also introduced Prayagraj Bar Council head Radhakant Ojha, alongside party leaders Prakash Pal, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Gopi Krishna Pandey, and Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan.

Party strategists asserted that the nominee choices maintain diverse representation across varied communities and professional backgrounds. Officials declared that the party expects a smooth election process for the eight seats during the October 16 voting, emphasizing continued focus on regional representation and organizational alignment.
