SAMRALA: Public protests erupted outside the SDM office in Samrala as members and supporters of the AAP Women’s Wing gathered to demand legal accountability regarding an alleged physical altercation involving an elderly Dalit woman at a Shiromani Akali Dal office. Led by AAP Punjab Women’s Wing President Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora and senior local leaders, the participants organized a march and effigy burning to highlight concerns over physical intimidation and civil safety.
Speaking at the venue, Dr. Arora asserted that political disagreements should never degenerate into physical confrontation or procedural violations. She declared that whether an individual is politically prominent or an ordinary citizen, statutory protections apply equally to everyone under the law. Arora stated that if any disagreement arose at the office, local police authorities should have been contacted rather than subjecting the visitor to physical mistreatment.
The party’s women wing reiterated its commitment to supporting victims of violence and maintaining public order across all districts. Protesters called upon senior police administration, including the district SSP and police commissionerate, to ensure a transparent probe into the events leading to the incident. Representatives maintained that strict adherence to legal standards is necessary to uphold public trust and protect community safety.
