NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH, OCT 12: The Supreme Court agreed to hear a plea challenging high court directions that ordered an independent probe into allegations surrounding official policy decisions and transfers in Punjab.
The state administration asserted that legal safeguards under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act and established principles governing information sharing under money laundering legislation must be observed.
Representatives for the state maintained that administrative decisions require standard statutory procedures before formal proceedings are initiated.
The Supreme Court recorded the submission and directed that protection from coercive measures be maintained as central agencies and other parties submit their responses to the court.
