Chandigarh: A two-pronged strategy focusing on strict enforcement and public rehabilitation has led to widespread arrests and expanded treatment access across Punjab. Authorities reported that community reporting through dedicated communication channels led directly to over 25,000 arrests under the state’s broader anti-drug initiative. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that public cooperation has provided vital operational support to the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, adding that community involvement remains central to sustaining long-term enforcement outcomes.
In addition to arresting key operatives and seizing contraband, law enforcement personnel actively assisted individuals seeking recovery. Police teams helped connect over 42,000 individuals with de-addiction facilities, while more than 1.5 lakh people received support through specialized clinical networks. Additional Director General of Police Nilabh Kishore asserted that combining community intelligence with structured medical assistance ensures a comprehensive approach to dismantling supply lines while addressing healthcare needs across the state.
