KAPURTHALA — Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that sustained educational reforms and merit-based recruitment have firmly positioned Punjab as a leader in academic standards and youth development.
Addressing students at the 14th convocation of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Chief Minister Mann stated that government initiatives are successfully bridging the gap between talent and opportunity. He asserted that more than 70,000 government jobs have been distributed through transparent processes without favoritism, restoring confidence among the state’s younger generation.
“Student life prepares young people for the realities of the world, where success requires determination, discipline, innovation and the courage to think differently,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted. “Your knowledge and expertise must not remain confined to personal advancement. Use them for the welfare of society and the progress of Punjab.”
The Chief Minister maintained that state efforts to streamline education under a single administrative focus have led to higher educational metrics nationwide. He cited the recent success of 882 students from modest backgrounds in national medical entrance examinations as evidence that quality education is becoming increasingly accessible to all sections of society.
In his address, Chief Minister Mann also touched upon wider security issues, maintaining that national drug enforcement efforts require a unified approach. He stated that discussions around the issue should take into account supply networks operating through coastal entry points in Gujarat, rather than placing sole focus on Punjab.
“The government is like an airport runway that provides an aircraft with the platform to take off,” affirmed Chief Minister Mann. “We can create opportunities and provide support, but it is up to the youth to use those opportunities to reach greater heights.”
The event concluded with the Chief Minister felicitating prominent hockey players, including national captain Harmanpreet Singh, for bringing international distinction to the region. He added that the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament hosted by Punjab will further showcase the state’s rich athletic tradition.
