MANSA, OCT 15: The Punjab police administration initiated strict disciplinary measures by suspending City-2 Station House Officer Inspector Beant Kaur in the wake of the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota. The decision followed continuous protests by local groups demanding accountability from police officials over their handling of the narcotics trade in the area.
Senior law enforcement officials affirmed that the investigation has been broadened with the inclusion of two additional names in the formal case file. Investigators reported that the newly added suspects are linked to the primary accused, Ashwani Kumar, whose licensed weapons are currently being scrutinized by authorities.
The tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday during a confrontation at a commercial establishment, resulting in the activist’s death and injuries to several others. Law enforcement representatives maintained that swift action led to the apprehension of the primary suspect and associated individuals, while administrative departments continue to monitor local security arrangements to maintain public order.
