Chandigarh, June 14: The family of Gurbhej Singh is appealing for urgent assistance from non-governmental organizations and government bodies to help return his remains to India. Singh, a 26-year-old resident from Punjab, lost his life following a knife attack on North Road in Southall, London. His family members asserted that they are facing extreme financial strain and cannot afford the repatriation costs on their own. While emergency responders made extensive efforts to save Singh after the assault occurred near Dormers Wells Lane, officials confirmed he died from his injuries.
A second victim, who also suffered severe wounds during the confrontation, was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Metropolitan Police have not yet published the identity of this second individual. In their updates, London investigators declared that a formal case has been registered and they are exploring all angles, though they noted that the true motive behind the attack—whether a random confrontation or a racially targeted crime—is still under review.
The initial police response led to the swift apprehension of seven men linked to the case. Authorities stated that following initial questioning, six of these men were released with no charges filed against them, while one individual was placed on bail pending deeper scrutiny. Law enforcement representatives noted that the collection of evidence is far from complete. They maintained that community cooperation is vital to solving the case and requested that local residents share any available CCTV footage or eyewitness testimonies regarding the events on North Road.
