Lucknow, Sept 12: The Uttar Pradesh Government has accelerated construction work on three PM Unity Malls situated in Agra, Varanasi, and Lucknow, designed to preserve traditional craftsmanship and elevate local industries. Designed as multi-floor trade destinations, each center will feature state-of-the-art commercial infrastructure to display traditional regional items, ranging from Avadh’s Chikankari to the famous glasswork and textiles of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Project monitoring details reveal that the Agra unit has completed foundational and basement RCC work, targeting a November 2026 completion date. In Varanasi, key structural work including the D-wall and roof slab has been achieved, while the Lucknow site in Avadh Shilpgram has reached the finishing stage for shops alongside administrative block construction. The central government-backed initiative seeks to establish permanent, high-footfall venues for local artisans who previously lacked direct access to major commercial channels.
Government representatives asserted that the PM Unity Malls will play a pivotal role in revitalizing fading rural art forms and expanding local manufacturing capability. Authorities declared that by centralizing product branding and marketing in high-density tourist areas, the state will generate sustainable economic opportunities for local craft clusters while reinforcing regional commercial heritage.
