NIA Conducts Searches at 10 Locations Across Kashmir

by TheReportingTimes

Srinagar, September 12: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday carried out searches at 10 locations across Jammu and Kashmir as part of its ongoing investigation into an alleged cross-border terror conspiracy involving Pakistan-based handlers of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and their local Over Ground Worker (OGW) network.

The searches were conducted across Kupwara, Kulgam, Bandipora, Baramulla and Sopore, with investigators targeting individuals suspected of providing logistical assistance to infiltrated terrorists allegedly operating under the direction of Pakistan-based handlers.

According to the NIA, the searches were aimed at collecting further evidence and establishing the alleged roles of individuals involved in facilitating the movement, shelter, concealment and logistical support of terrorists.

The case was initially registered as FIR No. 0024/2026 at Police Station Zakoora in Srinagar. It was later taken over and re-registered by the NIA as RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU under Section 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act, and Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act.

Probe Began After Arrest of Alleged LeT-Linked OGW

The investigation reportedly began after the arrest of an alleged LeT-linked OGW during a late-night naka checking operation on March 31, 2026. A hand grenade and live ammunition were allegedly recovered from his possession.

Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Pakistani nationals allegedly linked to the conspiracy, while investigators also identified members of a local support network suspected of assisting terror operatives.

The NIA has been examining alleged links between Pakistan-based LeT handlers and local associates who were purportedly involved in communication, transportation, shelter and concealment of infiltrated terrorists.

Investigators are also probing allegations of reconnaissance and other forms of logistical assistance provided to the suspected operatives.

Financial, Communication Links Under Investigation

As part of the wider probe, the agency is examining the alleged financial trail, communication channels, movements of suspects and supply chains involving arms and explosives.

The investigation is aimed at identifying the complete network, determining the individual roles of those allegedly involved and establishing the extent of the conspiracy and its activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

During Saturday’s searches, the NIA said it recovered incriminating material relevant to the case. The seized material is being examined and corroborated with other evidence gathered during the investigation.

The agency said the investigation remains ongoing and efforts are continuing to identify all persons allegedly associated with the conspiracy and establish their respective roles.

Further arrests and recoveries cannot be ruled out as the probe progresses, officials said.
