Gujarat Termed Gateway for Narcotics at Jalandhar Rally

Arvind Kejriwal Details Drug Supply Shift and Questions Political Funding

by TheReportingTimes

Jalandhar, June 14: Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal stated that Gujarat has transformed into the primary gateway for illegal narcotics reaching Punjab, shifting the traditional dynamics of the region’s drug trade. Speaking at a trade conventions meet over the weekend, Kejriwal affirmed that aggressive anti-drone operations along the international border successfully choked off nearly 70 percent of the smuggling routes that previously ran from Pakistan. He maintained, however, that domestic networks originating from the western coast have quickly filled the vacuum, alleging that the majority of the current supply now moves across state lines with political compliance.

The former Delhi Chief Minister directed sharp criticism toward the central government, asserting that prominent gang leaders like Lawrence Bishnoi enjoy state-sponsored immunity from prosecution. He declared that the administrative apparatus functions more like a corporate enforcement wing, focusing its energy on collecting monetary donations from wealthy Punjabi traders through coercion. Kejriwal stated that recent financial disclosures reveal a stark imbalance in political funding, noting that opposition forces secured tens of millions in local donations despite possessing negligible legislative representation in the state assembly, a factor he ascribed entirely to intimidation tactics.

To validate his critique of western maritime security, the AAP convener referenced the massive multi-crore drug haul intercepted at Mundra Port, alongside a recent Comptroller and Auditor General report detailing thousands of kilograms of seized narcotics mysteriously disappearing from government custody under the pretext of rodent damage. He affirmed that the current state government is taking an unyielding stance against local traffickers by actively dismantling their infrastructure. The high-stakes rhetoric comes at a critical juncture, as emerging administrative reports suggest that regional elections could be fast-tracked to late November, compressing the timeline for all major political factions.
