NEW DELHI, OCT 16: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal rejected central government criticisms regarding Punjab’s security situation, placing responsibility for the state’s drug influx on federal port oversight and historical political alliances.
The dispute flared up following remarks by Union Home Minister Amit Shah questioning local law enforcement efficacy against organized syndicates, signaling an intensifying electoral contest in the state.
Kejriwal questioned the central government’s anti-narcotics record, alleging that regions under direct BJP governance experience high levels of substance abuse before pointing toward specific logistical routes into Punjab.
“Today, the highest drug consumption is in those states where your governments have been in power for years. Haven’t you had your fill from selling drugs in those states? Now you’ve come back to ruin Punjab by teaming up with your Chitta Party again?” Kejriwal asserted.
Warning against federal overreach, the former Delhi chief minister declared that the electorate remains vigilant against attempts to alter the administrative status of Chandigarh or revive contested agricultural policy measures.
