Shimla, Oct 23: State employees and pensioners across Himachal Pradesh received a festive financial boost as Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu sanctioned a five percent hike in their Dearness Allowance. The updated allowance rate goes into effect immediately, with the revised amounts included in the upcoming October salary cycle.
Detailing the breakdown of the increase, the administration confirmed that the package merges a one percent adjustment from July 2023 with a four percent rise from January 2024. In addition to the regular DA update, regular Class IV workers will receive Rs 10,000 in cash next month to clear portions of their pending revision dues dating back to 2016.
The Finance Department will issue separate guidelines to manage the remaining arrears accumulated through September 2026. Although the latest state revision narrows the gap, local allowances still trail behind Central Government employees, who currently draw a dearness allowance of 60 percent.
