MANSA, Oct 29 — In a decisive step to streamline field administration during ongoing public demonstrations, the Punjab government ordered the immediate transfer and replacement of DSP-level officers across Mansa district following the murder of anti-drug campaigner Parvinder Singh Jhota. The decision follows the previous suspension of local officers and includes the temporary posting of three SP-rank officials to manage the security scenario in the area.

Under the revised deployment orders issued by the Special DGP (H), Gurpartap Singh has been posted as DSP Sub-Division Mansa, moving from his previous role in Fatehgarh Sahib. Similarly, Harvinder Singh Sran and Sarabjit Singh Brar have been posted to lead the Sardulgarh and Budhlada sub-divisions, respectively, while outgoing Budhlada DSP Sikander Singh stands transferred to Sangrur.

Investigative records indicate that Parvinder Singh Jhota, who operated an Anti-Drug Task Force and consistently challenged illicit drug distribution in the region, was fatally shot during an altercation at a local medical store. A live video recording captured during the incident showed discussions regarding drug sales shortly before gunshots were fired.

Police officials affirmed that the fresh postings and senior personnel additions will strengthen field supervision and ensure procedural rigor as investigations into the incident proceed under administrative monitoring.
