CHANDIGARH, Oct 29 — Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema declared that the comprehensive 40,000-page chargesheet presented by the Vigilance Bureau exposes a multi-layered financial web totaling ₹736.96 crore linked to Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia. Speaking to reporters, the Minister noted that the investigative documentation systematically traces funds channeled across a network of private limited firms and proprietorships between March 2007 and March 2017.

Cheema asserted that the decade-long Akali-BJP governance severely damaged the socio-economic fabric of Punjab, leaving thousands of families devastated by substance abuse while key political figures accumulated unexplained wealth. He stated that previous political regimes, including the subsequent Congress administration, failed to honor pledges to dismantle illicit drug networks, allowing financial and operational supply chains to remain intact.

Questioning the national security and anti-drug record of the central government, Cheema pointed to major drug seizures at maritime entry points in Gujarat, demanding transparency regarding domestic distribution channels. He affirmed that any attempt to expand illicit networks into Punjab would face uncompromising resistance from state law enforcement agencies.

Reiterating the administration’s resolve, Cheema highlighted that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government remains committed to eradicating the drug menace completely. He stated that through targeted enforcement and clinical intervention, the ongoing state drive has led to over 80,000 arrests, ensuring that those responsible for illicit financial gains are held accountable under the law.
