Administration Targets Festive Food Adulteration and Unsafe Cracker Storage

Special inspection teams deployed across retail markets and cold stores; strict legal action warned for violators

Ludhiana, Nov 1: A multi-department checking campaign has commenced to prevent the sale of fake sweets and eliminate hazardous firecracker storage during the holiday season. Local authorities issued strict guidelines instructing field officers to execute thorough sampling and inspection across manufacturing hubs, sweet shops, and commercial storage sites.

The regulatory measures focus on checking synthetic adulteration in dairy products and ensuring food preparation standards comply with Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards Regulations, 2011. Food safety inspectors have been authorized under Sections 38 and 47 of the Act to seize questionable batches and submit samples for laboratory analysis.

Alongside food purity checks, local administration teams are monitoring unauthorized firecracker stockpiles to prevent safety hazards in urban markets. Violators operating without valid commercial licenses or harboring illegal inventory face direct prosecution, business closure, and immediate confiscation of goods.
