Himachal, 8 January- Himachal Pradesh High Court judge Virendra Singh’s court took a tough stand in the sexual harassment case and dismissed the petition filed by the victim’s father. The court has said that the complainant or the victim has no right to file a petition to cancel the POCSO case.
That too in the name of saving the honor of the family. The court said that since this crime is against the society and if such cases are canceled on the basis of the facts given in the petition, then it will boost the morale of other accused and promote such crime.
Influencing the witness through trusted relations, using money and power, threatening the victim and complainant and settling the case in the name of family honor are included in this. The bench made these comments while dismissing the petition filed by the father of the sexual crime victim, in which he had demanded the cancellation of the FIR registered against the accused.
The petitioner said that he has reached a settlement with the accused. Argued that the FIR is creating obstacles in their daughter’s engagement. The groom’s family has put a condition that there should be no pending case regarding the girl. In view of this, the court rejected the petition.
