Bathinda, Sept 21: An incident behind the bus stand led to the death of a 19-year-old girl, while a 20-year-old youth continues to fight for survival at a private hospital.
Local passersby raised an alarm after spotting the unconscious pair concealed in bushes along the road. Police personnel arrived at the scene and facilitated their immediate transfer to the Civil Hospital. Doctors declared the girl, identified as Kusumjit Kaur, deceased, while the youth, Krishan Singh, was referred to AIIMS, Bathinda, and subsequently shifted to private care.
Kotwali police station SHO Yadwinder Singh affirmed that initial steps are being taken to uncover the factors leading to the development. Police representatives noted that while the deceased’s family chose not to initiate formal legal proceedings, officers are working to establish the sequence of events.
Investigating teams maintained that the duo knew each other well, adding that official clarification regarding the exact cause will be established after medical professionals permit the recording of Krishan Singh’s statement.
