Chandigarh, April 20: Cloudy weather prevailed in the city on Saturday following Friday evening’s rain and thunderstorm, with officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stating that overcast conditions are expected to persist through Sunday.

“Skies will remain cloudy, but no significant rainfall is likely over the next 24 hours,” an IMD official said.

While the maximum temperature dropped to 35.4°C on Saturday from 37.7°C a day earlier, it remained slightly above the seasonal average by 0.1°C. The minimum temperature, however, climbed sharply from 21.5°C to 25.2°C, marking a 3.9°C deviation above normal.

According to the IMD, the city will experience a gradual increase in temperatures from early next week. “A rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures is expected after the weekend,” the official mentioned.

Forecasts for the next three days indicate daytime temperatures ranging between 35°C and 37°C, while the nights are expected to stay warm with minimum readings between 23°C and 24°C.
