Hyderabad, May 3: Under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the Telangana government has laid out an elaborate action plan to host the 72nd edition of the Miss World competition in Hyderabad from May 10 to 31, aiming to turn the international event into a springboard for global investment and tourism.
Describing the event as a “milestone in the state’s history,” officials said that delegates from around 120 countries will participate, with arrivals scheduled between May 2 and 8.
The event will not only showcase Telangana’s hospitality and heritage but also promote its strengths in medical tourism, cultural industries, and security infrastructure.
Miss World Limited Chairperson Julia Morley, reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska, and other delegates arrived in Hyderabad on May 2 and were greeted with a ceremonial welcome at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
According to a press release, the contestants will embark on a culturally rich and economically strategic tour of Telangana.
Cultural and Heritage Showcase:
• On May 12, contestants will tour the Buddhavanam Project and Nagarjuna Sagar’s Buddhist Theme Park.
• A heritage walk through Charminar and Laad Bazaar is planned the same day, followed by a visit to Chowmahalla Palace on May 13.
• On May 14, groups will visit the Thousand Pillar Temple, Warangal Fort, and Ramappa Temple.
• May 15 will feature trips to Yadagirigutta Temple and Pochampally for handloom weaving demonstrations.
Tourism and Development Promotion:
• A medical tourism event is slated for May 16 at AIG Hospitals, followed by visits to the Pillalamarri tree and Experium Eco Park.
• On May 17, the Miss World Sports finals will be held at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, followed by a visit to Ramoji Film City.
• A visit to the Telangana Police Integrated Command and Control Centre on May 18 will highlight citizen safety and governance models.
• Continental fast-track finals are scheduled for May 20–21.
• Contestants will split between attending an IPL match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and participating in an artisan-led workshop at Shilparamam.
• The Talent Finale will be held on May 22, followed by the head-to-head challenge on May 23.
• Fashion and Top Model finals, along with a jewellery and pearl presentation, will take place on May 24.
• Social initiatives will be presented during the ‘Beauty With a Purpose’ event on May 26.
The Grand Finale is scheduled for May 31, marking the culmination of a three-week cultural and diplomatic showcase intended to cast Telangana as a top-tier global destination.
