SAO PAULO, May 17 — Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari underscored India’s rising global profile and economic transformation during a vibrant interaction with the Indian diaspora in Brazil’s financial capital on Wednesday.

Speaking at a gathering in Sao Paulo, Gadkari described India as a “land of opportunities,” urging the diaspora to engage with the country’s accelerating development through investment and collaboration.

“India offers immense potential in sectors like green hydrogen, biofuels, clean energy, and flex-fuel mobility,” he said, inviting professionals and entrepreneurs to contribute to the nation’s progress.

According to a statement from the minister’s office, the engagement aimed to deepen people-to-people ties and draw attention to areas of synergy between India and Brazil—including digital technology, agri-business, and energy cooperation.

Gadkari acknowledged the diaspora’s cultural commitment and its growing role in shaping bilateral initiatives.

“The Indian community abroad remains a vital bridge for strengthening partnerships,” he noted.

The interaction was part of Gadkari’s broader visit to Brazil, where he earlier represented India at the BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting in the capital, Brasilia.

Taking to social media platform X, Gadkari shared: “Honoured to represent India at the BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Brasilia, where India’s vision for sustainable, resilient, and multimodal transport infrastructure was shared with global partners.”

During the multilateral forum, Gadkari outlined India’s ongoing transport reforms under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, citing flagship programs such as PM GatiShakti, the National Logistics Policy, Bharatmala, and Sagarmala.

These initiatives, he said, are building an integrated and future-ready transport ecosystem while advancing inclusive growth and regional connectivity.

“India’s infrastructure roadmap is not just about building roads—it’s about enabling faster economic development and strengthening our global engagements,” Gadkari wrote in another post.

The minister’s visit highlights India’s dual strategy of infrastructure diplomacy and diaspora engagement, reinforcing its expanding role on the world stage amid fast-paced economic and policy changes at home.
