New Delhi, Sept 28: In a major policy initiative to combat seasonal smog, Delhi authorities have unveiled a four-month action plan enforcing strict operational guidelines for industries, offices, and commuters between November 1 and February 28.
The measures mandate a complete pause on dust-emitting civil and private construction works, paired with a 50 percent remote-work requirement for non-essential office staff. During the peak pollution phase from December 10 to January 20, entry of trucks transporting raw construction materials into the city will remain suspended.
To regulate traffic flow and lower emissions, municipal corporation hours will shift from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, while Delhi government offices will run from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Authorised parking fees will be doubled to promote public transport, though Delhi Metro parking will remain excluded from the increase.
Automotive compliance will be enforced strictly, requiring digital verification of PUC certificates at fuel stations. Non-BS-VI vehicles registered outside Delhi will be restricted from entering city limits throughout the four-month duration. Officials affirmed that monitoring teams will conduct continuous inspections across supply routes, fuel outlets, and commercial zones to maintain full compliance.
