Moga, Sept 28: Moga police executed a major anti-narcotics operation on Sunday, arresting three individuals near Ajitwal and recovering 12 kg of heroin from their possession.
Acting on intelligence regarding the movement of a drug consignment near the Ajitwal bus stand, a CIA staff team led by ASI Lovejeet Singh conducted a raid near the local grain market and intercepted an unnumbered white Maruti Swift. During a search conducted in the presence of DSP (D) Jatinder Singh, officers recovered the contraband packed in a blue bag hidden in the vehicle’s footwell. Police impounded the vehicle and arrested Saulav Singh alias Jani (21) and Baljinder Singh alias Lovely (24), both residents of Peere Ke Uttar village in Fazilka district, along with Manpreet Singh alias Goni (29) of Badhni Kalan village in Moga district.
Investigating officers noted that all three individuals have prior criminal records. Saulav Singh and Baljinder Singh were previously booked in May 2024 in connection with a case involving over 5.4 kg of heroin, while Manpreet Singh faces charges under the NDPS Act, Arms Act, and Section 307 of the IPC across multiple police stations.
A case has been registered under Sections 21, 29, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act at Ajitwal police station. SP (D) Ajayraj Singh maintained that the accused were produced before the court and remanded in police custody, with ongoing interrogations focused on establishing backward and forward supply linkages of the drug network.
