New Delhi, July 20: The Union Government has initiated talks with Cockroach Janta Party representatives, scheduling a meeting with Union Minister JP Nadda after more than 12,000 youth demonstrators gathered on Parliament Street to voice concerns over educational governance and youth welfare.
The agitation, sparked by alleged paper leaks and irregularities in the 2026 NEET examination, saw protesters demanding political accountability from the administration, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka confirmed that organizational leaders would issue detailed updates regarding the progression of the rally while noting the impact of the mobilization.
“All I have to say is that the government is under a lot of pressure, and that itself is a victory,” Ashutosh Ranka affirmed, adding that further official communications would follow.
Law enforcement authorities placed strict security cordons along routes leading to Parliament and instituted prohibitory measures across the sector after the crowd size surpassed initial estimates. While a minor confrontation occurred near the SBI Building on Sansad Marg and mild police force was briefly applied near Patel Chowk Metro station to route groups away from Jantar Mantar, the march continued along its path.
The demonstration also intersects with the ongoing hunger strike by Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Sonam Wangchuk, who has been fasting for three weeks in solidarity with youth issues.
“I will call off the fast if the Centre accepts responsibility for issues such as the paper leak, or if we are permitted to reach Parliament and obtain firm assurances from lawmakers,” Sonam Wangchuk asserted.
