NEW DELHI, AUGUST 15: A multi-sectoral reform framework titled ‘Sapta Dhara’ will anchor India’s push toward becoming a developed economy by 2047, targeting pivotal growth drivers across technology, defense, manufacturing, and green initiatives. Announcing the initiative on the nation’s 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for structural changes in how the government, society, and industry operate.
The strategic road map aims to fast-track development by focusing on food processing, logistics, soft power, and innovation, alongside heavy manufacturing and environmental initiatives.
“Small dreams are not sufficient anymore, we should dream big; India has a big dream to become ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047,” Prime Minister Modi stated. “When the world’s most populous nation resolves to become developed, the world will look at us differently.”
To achieve these long-term targets within the target window, the administration has urged a synchronized reform drive involving central agencies, state governments, and industry leadership.
“Things that have not been done in the last five or six decades, we have to do them in the next five to seven years,” Prime Minister Modi declared, placing strong trust in the national workforce. “I have faith in my country’s youth, farmers, labourers, daughters, and mothers to be able to do this.”
He maintained that large-scale national ambitions act as a catalyst for expanding overall domestic capacity.
“Our dreams, resolves should be big as this takes capabilities to greater heights,” he asserted, noting the wide participation of 140 crore citizens in the country’s growth journey. “Every heart is vibrating with Vande Mataram. There is a tricolour in every house, every heart. With a new energy, the nation is moving ahead with new resolve.”
The celebration began at the Red Fort with the unfurling of the tricolour following a guard of honour. The ceremony featured flower petals showered by two Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force and a rendition of Vande Mataram by an Army band, accompanied by solemn remembrances of freedom fighters including Mahatma Gandhi.
