Udaipur, AUGUST 27: The management of The Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur has filed an official police report after a Delhi-based family declined to pay their ₹5.74 lakh tab following a 10-day stay at the property. Police have begun reviewing communications between the guest, the resort, and the booking intermediary.
The dispute arose when guest Anurag Yadav, who checked in with his family on August 14, attempted to complete checkout procedures without settling the account. The guest maintained that Maker Baha Travel Agency held financial responsibility for the booking.
The travel agency subsequently repudiated Yadav’s claim, asserting that no arrangements existed for them to cover the accumulated costs of accommodation and dining. Following the refusal, resort liaison manager Ravindra Singh approached local authorities to lodge a formal complaint.
Sub-Inspector Ajayraj Singh maintained that preliminary evaluations point toward potential fraudulent coordination between the guest and the agency. He affirmed that law enforcement agencies are analyzing booking records and financial paperwork to establish intent and file charges as necessary.
The ongoing probe follows recent nationwide scrutiny regarding hospitality fraud cases involving misrepresentation and systemic default at luxury properties across India. Police declared that further action will proceed once preliminary documentation reviews are completed.
