Clash Between AAP – BJP in Bathinda Amid Protests

Law enforcement prevents physical Confrontation during rival demonstrations

by TheReportingTimes

BATHINDA, May 10: Heavy police presence continues to monitor the area surrounding the BJP district office after a tense encounter between Aam Aadmi Party and BJP supporters on Sunday. The two groups came face-to-face as the AAP carried out statewide protests against the Enforcement Directorate’s arrest of Minister Sanjeev Arora.

During the demonstration, AAP activists raised slogans against the central leadership, accusing them of maintaining an anti-Punjab stance. Party leaders, including district president Jatinder Bhalla and various MLAs, asserted that investigative agencies are acting as political tools for the central government. They maintained that the raids and subsequent arrest are part of a broader strategy to pressure the state’s ruling party.

The BJP activists intensified their counter-protest, calling for the resignation of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Former MLA Sarup Chand Singla stated that the government must take responsibility for the allegations involving the Cabinet Minister. As slogans were exchanged from both sides, DSPs Amritpal Singh Bhaati and Arun Mundan supervised the deployment of personnel to maintain a buffer zone between the protesters.

While the BJP workers eventually moved their demonstration closer to their office entrance, the atmosphere remained charged with political rhetoric. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported, though the area remains under close surveillance to prevent any further escalation between the political rivals.
