Crime Branch Investigates Foreign Extortion Calls Targeting Elvish Yadav

Influencer reports threats of violence following previous shooting incident at residence

GURUGRAM, MAY 10 — Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into an extortion plot targeting content creator Elvish Yadav, who was allegedly told to pay ₹10 crore to avoid a fatal attack. Yadav maintained that the individual claiming responsibility for the threat identified themselves as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

According to the formal complaint, the extortion attempt began with a missed call from a foreign number, followed by explicit WhatsApp messages demanding the massive sum within two days. The Crime Branch noted that the messages warned of imminent violence if the instructions were ignored. Investigators stated that they are currently analyzing call records and IP addresses associated with the international number used to contact the influencer and his father.

Law enforcement officials stated that the timing of the threat is particularly concerning given that Yadav’s home was the target of a shooting last year. On August 17, 2025, three gunmen opened fire outside his Sector 56 home, an incident that remains a key part of the current security assessment. Police asserted that they are working to determine if the new ransom demand is connected to the same criminal group responsible for the previous year’s firing.

Sector 56 police confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Officials declared that ensuring the safety of the complainant is a priority while they work to establish the veracity of the claim regarding the Bishnoi gang’s involvement. No arrests have been made in the new case thus far.
