Chandigarh, Oct 22: Political friction intensified in Punjab after AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu targeted Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sikander Singh Maluka over his remarks concerning the government’s monthly sanman rashi for women. Pannu stated that labeling financial aid for eligible women as an attempt to “buy” beneficiaries revealed a deep-seated bias within the Akali leadership toward women’s empowerment initiatives. He further cited past controversies and challenged SAD leaders to address the disrespect shown toward state welfare programs designed for household stability.
In response to the escalation, the Punjab State Women’s Commission initiated proceedings and sought a formal explanation from Maluka regarding his statements. Official directives have been issued to state police authorities to examine the matter and submit a detailed report on the remarks.
