Mohali, Sept 13: Following the conclusion of the first Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cricket League at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that continuous efforts will be undertaken to nurture grassroots talent and transform Punjab into a leading national sports hub. Participating in the final event, the Chief Minister affirmed that the tournament serves as an essential framework to identify promising athletes from rural and urban regions and propel them toward the national stage.
The two-week tournament featured six squads captained by prominent state cricketers, including Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh, Ramandeep Singh, and Gurnoor Brar. Chief Minister Mann praised the Punjab Cricket Association for executing the event smoothly and acknowledged the participation of over a hundred domestic players. He maintained that the league is far more than a cricket competition, describing it as an important platform designed to connect young people with constructive athletic pursuits.
Observing the final clash between Amritsar Surmaaz and Ludhiana Lions alongside Lok Sabha MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Chief Minister Mann shared reflections on social media regarding the event’s success. He commended the fighting spirit of the athletes and extended his best wishes for the upcoming seasons, reiterating the ongoing commitment to elevate state sports infrastructure and guide rising talent toward representing India in international arenas.
