NEW DELHI, AUGUST 26: A multi-ministerial Indian delegation has presented detailed updates on national affirmative action initiatives and judicial safeguards before the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in Geneva. The sessions, conducted on August 11 and 12, examined India’s 12th and 21st combined periodic reports detailing progress under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
According to a press statement released by the Permanent Mission of India, the bilateral review evaluated the domestic administrative framework, targeted public policy execution, and institutional measures designed to combat intolerance. Delegates detailed how democratic accountability mechanisms and judicial remedies work in tandem to protect vulnerable groups across the country.
Elaborating on the country’s institutional foundation, the diplomatic mission declared that the Indian presentation brought forward the nation’s deep pluralism, diversity, and targeted socio-economic development initiatives. Representatives asserted that public policies remain closely aligned with ensuring dignity, equal opportunity, and institutional support for every citizen.
