Japan-USA Delegation Proposes Automated Transit for Haryana Cities

Driverless Pod Taxis Could Transform State’s Urban Traffic Management

by TheReportingTimes

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 16 — A visionary shift in public transportation is under review in Haryana following a presentation by Japanese and American technology firms regarding an automated Glideways system. Representatives from Suzuki Motor Corporation and Glideways met with top state officials to outline a plan for a “pod taxi” network designed to provide fast, eco-friendly, and on-demand travel for city residents.

The delegation provided a comprehensive overview of how the driverless technology operates, emphasizing its role in cutting travel times and managing the heavy traffic flow typical of modern urban centers. Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar and other senior administrative secretaries joined the Chief Minister to evaluate the project’s timeline and long-term sustainability goals.

The proposed transit model is built on advanced automated technology that operates small pods independently, reducing the need for large-scale traditional rail infrastructure. Officials maintained that the system’s design focuses on enhancing energy efficiency, which is a core component of the state’s long-term environmental strategy.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini declared that providing superior transportation facilities remains a top priority for his administration. “The Haryana Government is committed to developing world-class infrastructure within the state,” he asserted. By integrating this high-tech solution, the state hopes to set a new benchmark for smart mobility in northern India.
