Lucknow, June 11: All medical, dental, and higher education campuses throughout Uttar Pradesh must activate student welfare and anti-radicalization units to counter potential forced religious conversions. Chancellor and Governor Anandiben Patel ordered the immediate creation of these specialized cells to shield students from unethical inducements, fear, or mental pressure.
The state-wide push stems from recent administrative concerns regarding alleged conversion incidents connected to the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences and King George’s Medical University in Lucknow. To ensure the directive moves forward quickly, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University has already ordered its entire network of affiliated colleges to prioritize the setup of these cells and return proof of compliance.
Security protocols under the new plan require institutions to secure their perimeters against unauthorized visitors and step up daily monitoring inside student housing. Campus administrations are tasked with organizing new student awareness programs and establishing direct lines of communication with local police and district authorities whenever suspicious actions come to light.
The Governor’s office affirmed that institutions are vital to the intellectual, moral, and social growth of the youth, requiring them to safeguard spaces of intellectual freedom. The administration declared that any operations designed to manipulate students through psychological pressure or illegal inducements are completely unacceptable.
