CHANDIGARH, APRIL 26 — Tensions escalated throughout Punjab as Aam Aadmi Party volunteers and locals targeted the homes of Rajya Sabha members Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal, and Rajinder Gupta with “Punjab de Gaddar” slogans. The backlash comes in response to the MPs joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, a move that protesters characterized as a direct betrayal of the state’s political mandate.

During a protest in Ludhiana, Parminder Goldy affirmed that every party worker remains committed to the leadership despite outside attempts to destabilize the government. He mentioned that the BJP’s actions are a reaction to the progress-based politics championed by the AAP. Goldy declared that the people of Punjab are observant and will hold these individuals accountable for their shift in loyalty.

Pawan Kumar Tinu maintained that the opposition is resorting to poaching tactics out of a sense of impending defeat in the next election cycle. He noted that the public resentment seen on the streets is a natural reaction to leaders who turn their backs on the voters. Tinu stated that while other political groups have united against the AAP, the party’s focus on public service will ensure its return to power in 2027.

The scope of the anger reached educational sectors as well, with slogans appearing at Lovely Professional University. AAP representatives asserted that the current climate of protest signals a deep-seated disappointment among the populace. They affirmed that the party continues to stand firm in its vision for the state, regardless of the maneuvers conducted by political rivals.
