CHANDIGARH, MAY 21 — The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday criticized the opposition leadership for leveraging federal enforcement agencies as instruments for political recruitment and issued a demand for a retraction regarding statements targeted at the state executive.
AAP Punjab Media In-Charge Baltej Pannu asserted that federal entities are systematically deployed to issue warnings and conduct searches against prominent public figures, with an implicit understanding that legal pressures subside upon joining the ruling national party. He cited explicit examples of local leaders being inducted by the state BJP apparatus shortly after receiving central agency communications.
“The BJP is openly using central agencies for political expansion,” Pannu declared, adding that figures who refuse to comply face immediate administrative penalties and arrests.
The press briefing also addressed national security rhetoric, with Pannu raising questions about past intelligence handling during border-state incidents and challenging the historical silence of current BJP figures on legacy security questions. He affirmed that the citizens of Punjab do not require validation regarding their national allegiance from partisan critics.
The dispute intensified over comments made by Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu concerning the Punjab Chief Minister. Pannu described the allegations as highly irresponsible and noted a severe contradiction in the minister’s public assessments of state-run institutions, particularly regarding rural welfare infrastructure.
According to state media representatives, the administrative focus in Punjab remains anchored to public welfare initiatives rather than partisan friction. Pannu stated that achievements in delivering free electricity, reinforcing school systems, and stabilizing agrarian infrastructure serve as the true measure of the current administration’s fidelity to the public.
