New Delhi, July 22: A major political stalemate unfolded at the Parliament complex as INDIA bloc lawmakers staged a “Black Day” demonstration following security actions during Tuesday’s marches. Members of Parliament gathered at Makar Dwar to demand executive accountability over recurring paper leaks and law enforcement responses.
The opposition strategy pivoted toward demanding the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, declining the government’s offer for an open parliamentary debate until executive changes occur. The stance follows a sit-in demonstration near the Prime Minister’s residence that resulted in the temporary detention of senior opposition figures.
Government representatives maintained that the central administration remains fully committed to discussing examination system reforms on the floor of the House. Treasury leaders claimed that opposition members shifted positions despite earlier assurances regarding structured discussions.
Opposition leaders maintained that systemic failures in national examination conduct require clear administrative consequences rather than standard legislative debate.
“Black is the colour of protest; it is also the colour of grief. What pressure is the government under that it cannot remove the minister?” questioned Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav.
Both Houses adjourned amidst continued slogans and procedural disruptions as lawmakers maintained their positions.
