Chandigarh, Jan 16: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann shared glimpses of President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit to Amritsar, noting that the head of state was highly impressed by the warmth and traditions of the Punjabi people.
During her stay, the President was given a taste of the state’s famous hospitality and its world-renowned culinary offerings.

Writing on X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister mentioned that the visit provided a great opportunity to showcase the best of the state. He said the President commended the Punjab Government for its work in maintaining the state’s cultural identity. “During this time, she relished authentic Punjabi cuisine,” the Chief Minister noted, adding that she found the preservation of Punjabi heritage to be impressive.
The visit was marked by the President’s participation in the 50th annual convocation of Guru Nanak Dev University.

In her address there, she spoke about the values of “Naam Jappo, Kirat Karo, Vand Chhako” and praised the high percentage of women graduates. Chief Minister Mann mentioned that having the President in Amritsar was a privilege for the entire administration and the residents of the holy city.
The official dinner and subsequent interactions allowed the President to engage more closely with the state’s leadership. Mann noted that the President was particularly vocal about the “exemplary Punjabi hospitality” she received from the moment of her arrival.

Despite the thick fog that eventually disrupted her travel plans to Jalandhar, the time spent in Amritsar left a lasting impression. The Chief Minister stated that such visits are vital for celebrating the diversity of India and for acknowledging the hard work of the people of Punjab in various fields, from agriculture to the arts.
